Diabetes

Diabetes
 Introduction:

Diabetes is a disease rated by the levels of glucose in the blood. Diabetes happens because of low insulin or a very high rate in the body and sometimes both of them together which increases the possibility of having diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that converts sugar and other food into energy; the cause of diabetes can be based both on genetic and environmental factors such as obesity and bad exercise. Glucose is a type of sugar that is necessary for the body, because it feeds the cells, and can help the body to get more energy. The body can use glucose as a source of energy to function the body's cells; having the insulin hormone in the body controls the amount of glucose in the blood and converts it to energy.

Diabetes in the UAE:
9.2% of the adult population of the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East suffer from diabetes, based on statistics from the International Diabetes Federation. And nearly 40% of the population of the UAE who are over the age of 60 years suffer from Type II diabetes."Diabetes is currently the fastest growing debilitating disease in the world. In the UAE it is estimated that one out of five people aged 20 to 79 lives with this disease, while a similar percentage of the population is at risk of developing it. This year, the UAE ranked 2nd highest worldwide for diabetes prevalence." said the director of ICLDC.  In 2006 the Imperial College London Diabetes Centre opened in Abu Dhabi ;ICLDC helps the diabetes  condition throughout the United Arab Emirates, which has the second highest prevalence of diabetes in the world.

Types of diabetes:

1. Type I:
Often affects children and younger people and that’s a result of a defect in the immune system or a viral inflammation of the pancreas gland unable to secrete the hormone insulin or secreted in very small amounts are not sufficient. In this case the patient assumes insulin injections to restore blood sugar to a normal level.

2. Type II:
Often affects adults over the age of thirty who have a great relation with obesity, and the genetic factor plays a big role in its occurrence. In this type no immunity in the insulin receptors on the surface of cells  prevents insulin from working normally, so it needs to take medication grain to help the pancreas to secrete more insulin.

3. Gestational diabetes:
Is a special type of diabetes which arises in some women during pregnancy. It usually fades after birth, does not mean that the child will be born with diabetes. And gestational diabetes arises because of hormonal changes during pregnancy which can change the body's ability to use the hormone insulin.

Causes of diabetes:

    -1 - Obesity.

    -2 - Genetic reasons.

-3 - diseases of the pancreas.

    -4 - Bad psychological state.

    General symptoms of diabetes:

    -1 - Excessive urination.

    -2 - Drowsiness.

    -3 - Sweating.

    Side effects:
Hardening of the arteries, gangrene; influences the sensory nerves and motor nerves.

Care required: You must control weight, pressure, blood sugar and urine and must follow the diet and visit your doctor regularly, and stop smoking.

The cure:
Diabetes can’t be cured ;however focus on the treatment can avoid problems for short or long terms, good nutrition, exerciser and monitoring blood levels.
In the case of diabetes, scientific studies have shown that over 50% of our immune system is in the colon.so a clean, well-functioning colon must be imperative for good health. Cleaning the colon must be done properly, using a program that allows you to maintain a stable blood sugar. The common approach of fasting with colon cleansing must be approached with great care if you have blood sugar issues.

Technology:

Technology is about making lives easier for people and improving functions, tools, organizing data and how people live. And it refers to a better modification in machinery and also life style, improvement in production. Technology has affected society and its surroundings in a number of ways. Technologies are not usually exclusively products of science, because they have to satisfy requirements such as utility, usability and safety.

In many societies, technology has helped develop more advanced economies and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Animals use basic technology apart from humans such as dolphins and bats to define objects and speaking using sound waves.

The history of technology:

Human ancestors have been using stone tools since the Stone Age; making a stone tool was simple; hard stone with flint was one of the basic hammer stones that was made in the Stone Age. After that fire was a turning point in the technological evolution of humankind which helped them with cooking and improving their tools and making harvesting food an easier process and mining and harvesting food. Wheels were invented at that time and was developed in The 16th century, it was the beginning of the modern era of science, a time of great exploration  and extraordinary literature.
Major changes in philosophy and science took place Before the 17th century science and scientists were not truly recognized Like at first people like the 17th century genius Isaac Newton were called natural philosophers, since there was no concept of the word scientist for most of the 17th century.
The first Industrial Revolution and modern manufacturing began with steam engines replacing animals Laboring in the 18th century  was very hard on workers because only a few countries had reach the machinery technology.

How has technology affected our business?

Technology changed the business and improved it, Thanks to the Internet communicating and making deals is much easier to do online and personal information is more accessible and secure; Storing important documents on the computer is safer and can’t get lost easily ;also using e-mail as a way to communicate and send these documents is faster and much portable by cell phones.
Now most business is conducted over computers that offer companies a way to organize databases and arrange virtual meetings and personal schedules and other essential information.

Why are businesses investing in online project management?

At first people used to keep everything simple by using logbooks, calendars and paper files to plan, execute and document all the phases of a project and used a lot of space to store the all these paper and hard work; some companies have strict policies about keeping records for many years and they had to recycle it .
Because of that some companies have moved their projects and work to the web, and then people can log in and find the work that they were working on, and some companies develop a private server and application for the computer and the cell phone.

We started our class late this term because of class changing and schedule timing.
We started to practice summarizing and making our blogs and post our work in to the portfolio; also we had to interact with the article and discus some of the main articles like the North African bustards and the police night patrols.
We also learned how to eliminate unneeded words like dates and names and to get the main idea of the passage , and after that we summarized the desert milk and the desert survival articles based on the skills that we learned during the first few weeks since the beginning  of the term.
And in the last week we learned how to use BibMe before the beginning of the eid holiday.

The way that the bedouin overcame the desert

The Bedouin overcame the desert by living from it and extracting food for generations. In the old days Bedouin used subtle clues to find wells and water by following birds and using the valleys to collect rain water and food .The Bedouin dug the wells for months just to collect water ,and they used the qurba to collect seawater and make it potable . After the well is dried out they still use it for direction and it’s still named after the man who dug it. The Bedouin used milk from sheep and camels as a substitute for water
